Splat was established in 2006 by Jo Green and Vicky Groves, both mums with teaching and arts and craft experience.
Jo currently teaches young children swimming and is a Cub Scout leader.
Vicky previously was an Outstanding Registered Children Minder.
Both teach arts and crafts within their local primary school from art days to academies to after school arts
and crafts as well as creative textiles and sewing. They run events for nurseries, community groups/projects,
Scouts, Brownies, holiday clubs, housing associations & youth clubs.
Their aims for each session are....
- To encourage learning through fun
- To introduce new ideas and techniques and develop new skills
- To allow children of all ages and abilities to interact socially
They are passionate about the benefits that arts and crafts can give children.
When creativity is encouraged from an early age the affects are far reaching – children develop
and improve
their fine motor skills and hand/eye co-ordination, learn to understand instructions, ask
questions and interact with others which helps them to develop and grow socially.
Even very young children take pride in their own creations and get a sense of achievement.
Splat gives children the opportunity to explore their creativity through different mediums.
They are introduced to new ideas and techniques and encouraged them to experiment with
colour, shape, texture and pattern. Sessions take place in a relaxed, friendly environment
and activities are carefully planned appropriate to allow children to reach their full potential.
All party leaders are mums themselves, CRB checked, fully insured, have first aid training and,
most importantly are wonderfully creative!
